Lane Halloway

I spend my time figuring out how to feed a crowd without losing your mind or your entire savings. Most days I am just staring at catering menus and drinking lukewarm tea.

I once watched a massive floral arch slowly collapse and lean against a wall during an outdoor ceremony because nobody checked the wind speed. I was helping my cousin plan her wedding, and nobody panicked because I had already hidden extra zip ties and a hammer in my trunk. That was the moment I realized hoping for the best is a terrible strategy for a large event.

The reality of the guest list People talk about putting together a seating chart like it is a fun puzzle. It is actually a brutal math problem where half the relatives refuse to RSVP on time. I spent my own engagement stressing over napkin colors before I finally understood that nobody remembers the napkins. Now I strip the planning process down to the studs. I test out timeline templates, track how much alcohol actually gets consumed at these parties, and figure out which traditions you can skip without spending a fortune.

What you will find in my notes I focus heavily on the logistics of moving people from a ceremony space to a dining room. I compare rental company policies so you do not have to. I write down the exact questions you need to ask a caterer before you hand over a deposit. You will not find much about finding your dream dress here. I am terrible at fashion, and I leave that entirely alone.

My own limits I am incredibly stubborn about budgets. If something costs too much, I will cut it from the spreadsheet. I do not believe in going into debt for a single party. I am still trying to figure out how to deal with difficult family members without losing my temper, but I take a lot of deep breaths and write angry notes in my legal pad.
